Bridges appear broken. They need to be repaired to access new islands and expand the territory. Obstacles are Trees and Rocks (Clusters, Boulders and Spars) that block certain areas. Remove them to make more room for Dragons.

 

The bridge to Darkened Green is unrepairable and will remain broken even when the map is expanded. This does not impact the functionality and you can still venture to this new area.
